Champions Chelsea win seven goal thriller

Chelsea left it late to beat Watford at Stamford Bridge on Monday

Champions Chelsea win seven goal thriller

15 May 2017 - 21:33

Chelsea confirmed their title of Premier League Champions on Friday night, and they were back in action again on Monday. Already in high spirits, the Stamford Bridge crowd were treated to a seven goal spectacle against Watford.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • John Terry captained the Chelsea side, which could be the last time he does so before he bids an emotional farewell to the club at the end of the season. With twenty two minutes played, it was Terry who gave the home side the lead, when he headed in a corner.

Just moments later, Terry was at fault, when his mistake allowed Etienne Capoue to equalise. The last goal of the first half was scored by another Chelsea defender, Cesar Azpilicueta finishing brilliantly from twenty five yards.

Friday's hero, Michy Batshuayi was on the scoresheet again just after the interval, making Chelsea look comfortable at 3-1. The game wasn't over however, when a great solo goal from Daryl Janmaat, before a close range Stefano Okaka effort looked to have denied the champions a victory.

With just minutes left to play, Cesc Fabregas scuffed in a winner to send the Stamford Bridge faithful into celebrations once again. Sebastian Prodl was sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence, but it was too late to influence the result further.
