Egypt progressed through to the Semi-finals of The African Cup of Nations after beating Angola 2-1. Egypt are now considered among the favorites to win the trophy.

  • Chelsea eyeing part-exchange deal to sign Osimhen
  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • There was a cagey start in this African Cup of Nations match and it was slow going but there was a 30 yard shot from Shawky but he failed to beat Lama, the Angolan Keeper.

There was more pressure from Egypt after this and 2 more attacks could have given goals to The Pharaohs but on 20 minutes the Egyptian pressure payed off after Macanga was ajudged to have handled the ball and Abd Rabou netted his fourth goal of the tournament for Egypt.

But new Machester United signing Manucho let rip with a 30 yard screamer which gave Al-Hadari, in the Egypt goal, no chance.

The Angolans outplayed The Egyptians for moments after Manucho's goal but a defensive error from Kali allowed the ball to continue across the penalty area and let Egypt's Zaki score from Fathi's cross.

After the break Manucho had another chance to score but put his header wide and the Angolans may have felt it was not their day but Angola had more chances in an attacking second-half in which both teams could have scored 2 or 3 each.

The Angolans were desperate to break down the holders defence but the break through didnt come and Egypt progress through to meet Ivory Coast who beat Guinea 5-0 yesterday.
