Serie A holders Juventus have struck a €16m deal with Arsenal in order to pursue the services of Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

  • The 27-year-old has had a bright two-year loan spell with AS Roma where he has developed leaps and bounds, and he now appears to be on the verge of joining the Old Lady.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Champions League finalists have agreed on a €16m deal for the Poland international who will receive wages of around €4m a year, on his arrival to Turin.

Szczesny is currently behind the likes of Petr Cech and David Ospina in the pecking order at Arsenal, and this may have urged him to link up with the Old Lady with a view to succeeding to Gianluigi Buffon.

Buffon is due to hang up his boots after the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia, and this could see Szczesny slowly integrated into the Juventus lineup.

Szczesny has amassed over 180 outings for Arsene Wenger's side, with his last appearance being in the FA Cup final against Aston Villa in 2015, where the Gunners won by a convincing 4-0 scoreline.
