Ricardo Rodriguez close to Milan transfer

Liverpool to miss out on Swiss full-back

07 June 2017 - 09:20

Liverpool will reportedly have to look elsewhere in their search for a new left-back with Ricardo Rodriguez close to wrapping up a move to the Serie A.

  • Chelsea eyeing move for Fiorentina right-back?

  • The Swiss international has been long linked with a Premier League switch with The Sun last year suggesting that the player could join compatriot Granit Xhaka at Arsenal.

However, the talented left-back opted to stay put with the German outfit in spite of further interest in January in order to keep them in the Bundesliga.

Rodriguez's agent recently confirmed that Wolfsburg would permit the full-back's exit following their relegation escape, and according to The Sun, the 24-year-old could be on the cusp of a Rossoneri switch.

Milan have made their transfer ambitions clear this summer after having recruited the likes of Mateo Musacchio and Franck Kessie in order to add more steel to the squad.

Rodriguez is due to have a Milan medical today ahead of his £15m move to the San Siro outfit. The deal would come as a huge blow for Jurgen Klopp's team, who had monitored the player's progress during the second half of last season.

Liverpool are currently on the desperate search for a new left-sided defender with Milner having had to adapt to the makeshift role for most of last season.
