West Brom, Newcastle eye Celtic forward

12 June 2017 - 05:50

West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United are planning potential moves for Celtic's Leigh Griffiths following his heroics for Scotland in the World Cup qualifier against England last week.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The 26-year-old produced two stunning free-kicks to give the Scots the lead following Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's opener but England skipper Harry Kane spoiled the day with a late equaliser to make it 2-2.

Griffiths, who bagged his two goals in the national colors, was evidently livid at the result, but he admitted that he was happy to have contributed a vital point in Scotland's bid for the World Cup.

According to The Mirror, both West Brom and Newcastle are keeping tabs on the Hoops forward as they seek to bolster their forward ranks ahead of the new season.

Griffiths has bagged 85 goals in over 140 outings for Celtic, but his playing time was rather reduced last season with Brendan Rodgers going with Moussa Dembele for the striker's role.

Celtic are likely to hold out for a fee of around £6m, should one of his suitors come forward for his signature in the summer.
