Everton now have a clear path to sign the Burnley defender after Manchester United opted to bring Lindelof to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move back to Manchester United as he was believed to be Mourinho's first choice centre-back to replace Chris Smalling. Chelsea and Everton were also thought to be lining up closely behind United for Keane.
However, the Red Devils recently signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof for £35 million to effectively end their interest in Michael Keane.
With Chelsea also focusing their attention on Juventus duo Alex Sandro and Leonardo Bonucci, Everton will now have a clear path to Michael Keane's signature, according to the Daily Star.
The report stated that Keane wants to leave Burnley for a bigger club as he wants to take his game to the next level to have a higher chance of playing for England in the World Cup next year. With Manchester United and Chelsea pulling out, both Everton and Michael Keane have little in their way of making a deal happen.
Ronald Koeman has stated his intentions to recruit players this summer after Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley leaves. Michael Keane and Swansea's Gylfi Sigurðsson are believed to be on top of his transfer list.
Michael Keane established himself as one of the best Premier League centre-backs this past season, having an average duel win percentage of 61 percent and making the second highest blocks in the league.
Everton will likely lodge a bid of £30 million for the defender this week.
