Matic wants Mourinho reunion

20 June 2017 - 04:01

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic is reportedly looking to leave the club and join Premier League rivals Manchester United in order to reunite with former manager Jose Mourinho.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Matic and Mourinho had a slight issue during their time at Stamford Bridge when Matic was brought on as a substitute in a match against Southampton, only to be replaced himself just 28 minutes later.

The Sun reports however that overall the pair had a good relationship at the club and Matic is keen to work with his former manager. Current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte's desire to add depth this summer may also see Matic slide down the pecking order if he remains at the club.

Manchester United are on the lookout for a new defensive midfielder during this transfer window who will allow Paul Pogba to highlight his attacking ability from the centre of the pitch.

Matic is believed to be on Jose Mourinho's shortlist to fill that gap, alongside Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier.

Other reports also suggest that Chelsea may use Nemanja Matic as part of a deal to secure the signing of Juventus defender Alex Sandro.
