Benitez wants answers for latest transfer setbacks

Rafa Benitez considering Newcastle United future amid transfer setbacks

25 June 2017 - 05:49

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly growing frustrated at the lack of transfer activity on the club's return to the Premier League.

  • Dutch star has travelled to London for Chelsea medical
  • Chelsea to focus on signing Dutch attacker after Hato

  • The former Liverpool coach inked a fresh three-year deal at the end of last season after owner Mike Ashley promised that he would offer every penny from the kitty to bolster the squad.

However, the Tyneside club have suffered plenty of disappointments with Chelsea graduate Tommy Abraham having agreed to join Swansea City on loan while Willy Caballero appears to have snubbed their advances for a Chelsea move.

Meanwhile, Benitez's temperament is likely to be tested further with Manchester City pair Fabian Delph and Eliaquim Mangala poised to join Stoke City and Lyon respectively.

According to The Mail, Benitez will hold crunch talks with managing director Lee Charnley in order resolve their ongoing failure in the transfer market.

Cristian Atsu remains the only notable signing for the Magpies this summer after having secured his permanent move from Stamford Bridge following a good season under Benitez last term.
