Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that there is no truth to reports suggesting Paul Pogba could be sidelined for three months with a hamstring injury.
The 24-year-old suffered the muscular problem in the 3-1 triumph over Basel in the Champions League last week, and a report from The Times claimed that the Frenchman could miss up to 12 weeks with potential tendon damage.
However, Mourinho has clearly dismissed the story by insisting that the club will have further examination over Pogba's injury in a weeks' time.
"The player was diagnosed initially after the match because of the conditions of the muscle and the bleeding, the decision was one more week to wait and to see really clearly in the scans the dimension of the injury," he told reporters, as per ESPN:
"And nobody in the club spoke about 12 days or 12 weeks. Not at all. It's a muscular injury in the hamstring, but we have a normal procedure and wait a few more days, so it's completely nonsense information."
Despite Paul Pogba's setback, United coped quite comfortably against Everton on Sunday afternoon as Marouane Fellaini slotted into the midfield alongside Nemanja Matic.
An early stunner from Antonio Valencia set the tone for the game, and United sealed the 4-0 win with late goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial.
Jose Mourinho's side will now switch to League Cup action with Championship outfit Burton Albion due to visit Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
