Chelsea have reportedly joined the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgium international has had a difficult time with injuries during the current campaign, and this has seen him drop below Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen in the pecking order for a central defensive role.
In addition to this, the 29-year-old has supposedly demanded excessive wages of around £180,000-a-week to extend his deal, and this is something Spurs are unwilling to match.
According to The Mirror, Chelsea have joined the chase to sign the former Ajax graduate as they look to reinforce their defence further for the 2018/19 season and beyond.
Alderweireld, who has just 15 months left on his contract, is currently valued at around £43m by the north London side. However, this value could decrease to just £25m via a release clause that does not come into effect until the last 14 days of the summer transfer window.
