Chelsea want Mauricio Pochettino as next manager?

31 March 2018 - 12:11

Chelsea are reportedly planning to a surprise attempt to sign Mauricio Pochettino as the new head coach in the summer. The Blues are likely to part ways with Antonio Conte, who has been at odds with the club's hierarchy regarding the transfer policy.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip

  • According to The Telegraph, the Blues are monitoring the situation of the Tottenham Hotspur head coach, and could lodge an approach, should they finish in the Champions League positions this term.

Nevertheless, Spurs are expected to block any move for their manager, and it is suggested that the Blues do have other names in the form of Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel in their shortlist.

Chelsea are currently five points behind fourth-placed Spurs in the standings, but they can shorten this gap to just two points with a victory over their cross-town rivals this weekend.

Conte currently has a contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2019, but he is likely to be sacked from his position during the off-season, regardless of the club's success in the FA Cup.
