Manchester United fail with bid for Inter Milan defender

16 June 2018 - 22:19

Manchester United have reportedly had a £57m rebuffed for highly-rated Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar. The 23-year-old only joined the San Siro giants from Sampdoria but has already made a huge mark by helping the side return to Champions League football.

  • According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red Devils are said to have tabled a £57m bid for the Slovakian but the outrightly turned down by Inter, who deem the player untouchable.

Meanwhile, Inter are understood to have begun talks over an improved contract with the 23-year-old, who is likewise said to have no plans of leaving the club this summer.

United boss Jose Mourinho has expressed a keen interest in strengthening the central defensive department this term but so far, the club have been unable to sort out a deal for any player.

Tottenham Hotspur's Toby Alderweireld has been regularly linked with United over the past month but the club are supposedly reluctant to pay the £70m sum which Spurs are said to demand for the Belgian.
