Sarri to hold talks with goalkeeper

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is set to hold talks with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in order to convince him to stay at Chelsea, according to the Daily Star.

  • The player has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and has reportedly agreed personal terms with the UEFA Champions League holders.

    Chelsea were said to be open to a move for the Belgian, but have halted proceedings until they can get a replacement for him.

    Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been linked with Chelsea, but Everton are looking to give him a new contract to make him stay. Chelsea have also been linked with Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and Petr Cech of Arsenal.

    Cech has said that he is ready to fight for his Arsenal place and has demonstrated that in pre-season by making great saves for them at the International Champions Cup. Courtois is reportedly keen to go back to Spain to be with his family, who are based in Madrid.
