Liverpool have made contact with the agent of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot over a possible transfer to Anfield, ESPN reports.
The Frenchman has rejected new contract offers from the Ligue 1 champions and could leave for free at the end of the season when his contract will expire.
In January, he will be able to sign for another club where he can play next season.
Liverpool are very interested in Rabiot, especially with the possibility of signing him on a free transfer.
Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a fan of the midfielder and wanted to sign him when he was the coach of German club Borussia Dortmund.
He was linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer, but a transfer never materialised as PSG did not sanction it.
Barcelona are still interested in Rabiot, providing a stiff competition for Liverpool in the race for his signature.
Last October, Rabiot admitted that he would love to play in the Premier League in future, adding that he grew up being fond of Liverpool.
