Leno feels sorry for Cech after injury against Watford

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has sympathised with Petr Cech following the injury he sustained in the Gunners' 2-0 win over Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Cech limped off the pitch shortly before halftime at the Emirates with a suspected hamstring injury, and was replaced by Leno for his Premier League debut.

Prior to featuring for the Gunners against Watford, Leno has played in the Europa League and Carabao Cup this season.

"As a goalkeeper you don't think you will come in and Petr Cech gets injured. I feel sorry for him. I hope it's not too bad," he said to Premier League Productions.

It is not clear how long the former Chelsea man will be out of action, but he is now a doubt for Arsenal's next game against Qarabag in the Europa League next Thursday.

Arsenal are currently on a good run of form, having won their last seven games.

Despite hoping Cech's injury is not too bad, Leno will be hoping to remain as the Gunners first choice, regardless of when the former Czech Republic international returns to full fitness.
