Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has reportedly emerged as a potential target for Barcelona ahead of the transfer window at the turn of the year.
The Blaugrana are presently in a defensive crisis with both Thomas Vermaelen and Samuel Umtiti being long-term absentees and this has left them with Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet as the only senior players at the heart of the backline.
According to TEAMtalk, the Spanish champions are said to have identified Dier as a potential target for the New Year, given the Englishman is comfortable featuring in both the holding midfield and central defensive positions.
Dier, who still has nearly three years left on his existing contract, is understood to have caught the eye of Barcelona chiefs during England's recent 3-2 triumph over Spain in the UEFA Nations League.
He is however not the sole target on their radar with teammate Toby Alderweireld, Matthijs de Ligt and Dejan Lovren all highlighted as possible options when the transfer window reopens in January.
