Michael Owen says Liverpool are under more pressure for Champions League final

Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Michael Owen has said that the Reds will be under more pressure for the Champions League final when compared to Tottenham Hotspur.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Reds have enjoyed a strong season under Jurgen Klopp where they just missed out on the Premier League title but they still have the chance of securing the Champions League crown.

Speaking to Press Association Sport, Owen said that his former club should feel more pressure in the final, given the kind of season they have had, he told: "All the pressure is on Liverpool because they know they need to win a trophy after the season they've had."

He added that a defeat against Mauricio Pochettino's side would be considered a huge setback at the end of a promising campaign, he further said: "If they don't win on Saturday it will be like a dagger through the heart of every Liverpool player and fan."

Liverpool have beaten Tottenham Hotspur in both their league encounters this term but they will still expect a difficult challenge with Spurs beating the likes of Manchester City and Ajax en route to the final.

The Capital outfit will also have the services of Harry Kane and Harry Winks after recent injury setbacks and the former could have a say on the eventual outcome of the Champions League final.
