Atletico Madrid want Arsenal striker to replace Antoine Griezmann?

03 July 2019 - 19:35

Atletico Madrid could reportedly make a surprise attempt to secure the signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal shortly after they sanction the sale of Antoine Griezmann.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Griezmann has publicly confirmed that he would be parting ways with Atleti this summer and reports have emerged that Barcelona are leading the race to trigger his £107m release clause.

Amidst this, the Madrid giants are expected to pursue another top marksman in the transfer window and The Mirror claims that they have their sights on landing Lacazette from the Gunners.

Unai Emery's side are working on a moderate £45m for the summer and there have been suggestions that they could be forced to sell either Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette as part of the rebuild.

The Frenchman has previously spoken about the ambition of playing Champions League football and a move to the Wanda Metropolitano could be a tempting prospect, should the Gunners be open to selling him.
