Everton are reported to have made an opening offer of £30m for Nigerian winger Alex Iwobi, which has been knocked back by Arsenal.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Iwobi was a key player under Unai Emery during the previous campaign and he made a total of 51 appearances in all competitions for the side.

According to BBC Sport, the Toffees have made a bid in the region of £30m for the attacker but the offer has been swiftly rejected by the north London giants.

It is added that Marco Silva's side may have to raise their offer to at least £40m, in order to land the Gunners graduate before the 5pm deadline on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a separate report from Sky Sports News has stated that Wilfried Zaha has placed a transfer request at Crystal Palace and it remains to be seen whether the Toffees revive their pursuit of the Ivorian.

The Eagles have already rejected a £70m bid plus James McCarthy and Cenk Tosun (loan) for their attacker but they may now re-consider the package with the 26-year-old deciding to sacrifice his bonus payments.
