Arsenal have announced that young midfielder Joe Willock has been handed with a new long-term contract following his impressive showing for the club this season.
The England youth international had a promising pre-season where he was regularly deployed at the heart of the midfield and his performances were sufficient enough to hand him starts in the opening three league games.
In a statement released on the club's official website, it has now been confirmed that the youngster has been rewarded with a new and improved contract, although the length of the deal remains undisclosed.
Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi seem to have cemented two places in the centre of the park and Willock will certainly face competition for the third midfield role in the presence of Lucas Torreira and Dani Ceballos.
Arsenal will be aiming to secure their first win in three matches when they face Watford on the road this weekend. The Gunners are currently just outside of the top four on goal difference.
