Manchester City and PSG set to fight for Italian youngster

24 October 2019 - 06:14

According to reports in Italy, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are set to compete with each other for the signing of promising youngster Sandro Tonali. The scouts from both City and PSG were reportedly in attendance in Brescia's 0-0 draw with Fiorentina.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Tonali has been a vital cog in Brescia's system this season and the midfielder has played the entirety of the 90 minutes for the sixth time this season illustrating his importance to Brescia. Despite being just 19 years of age, Tonali has missed just 11 minutes of club football this season and made his debut for the Italian national team under Roberto Mancini as well.

Tonali is touted as a potential heir to Andrea Pirlo's role in the national side. Tonali is a calm and composed midfielder with a great passing range, positional awareness and ability to score from distance as well. He would represent the opportunity for City to plan for the future and with David Silva leaving and Fernandinho ageing could be a shrewd purchase for Pep Guardiola's side.

However, City are not the only interested side with PSG, Juventus, AC Milan and Manchester United also reportedly interested in acquiring Tonali's services. It remains to be seen where he makes his move to.
