Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaks on Manchester United's top four hopes

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has acknowledged that his team need to be better with their performances if they are to close the gap on the top four of the Premier League.

  • Borussia Dortmund chief updates on Jadon Sancho link with Chelsea
  • Manchester United keeping tabs on Barcelona midfielder ahead of possible move

  • The Red Devils failed to win for the second game on the bounce in the league after they settled for a disappointing 2-2 draw against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

As a result, the club were able unable to fully capitalise on Chelsea's defeat earlier on Sunday and they are currently trailing Frank Lampard's side, who are in the fourth position, by eight points.

Following the stalemate versus Villa, Solskjaer admitted that his team are far off from the top four at the moment but is hopeful of closing the gap during the festive round of fixtures.

"That will take care of itself in the end. We have to be better, we have to work as a team and become a better unit. Today it was end to end, we were exciting going forward but we should have controlled the game more," he told BBC Sport.

United's next game comes against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford and they can expect a testing challenge with former boss Jose Mourinho at the helm of the north London giants.
