Manchester City decide on Stones\' future amid Arsenal link

Manchester City reportedly have no ambition of parting ways with defender John Stones amid the reported interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder

  • Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to add an experienced option at the heart of the defence this month and a recent report from The Sun has claimed that he is eyeing surprise loan move for Stones from his former employers.

However, according to Manchester Evening News, the Cityzens are unlikely to entertain any offers for Stones with manager Pep Guardiola quite clear that the centre-back has a huge part to play for the club this term.

Stones has been restricted to just nine appearances in the Premier League this term due to injuries and competition for places and he is currently behind Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi in the pecking order for the central defensive roles.

Arsenal are expected to sign at least one centre-back this month with Dinos Mavropanos already loaned out while Shkodran Mustafi is expected to head through the exit door.
