Javier Zanetti provides fresh update on Lautaro Martinezs future

Zanetti insists Martinez will stay put with Inter

Javier Zanetti provides fresh update on Lautaro Martinez's future

13 April 2020 - 15:22

Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti has reiterated that Lautaro Martinez is happy at the Nerazzurri despite the imminent interest from Barcelona.

  • Chelsea set to sign Crystal Palace star for £47m
  • Man Utd aiming to beat Liverpool to 25yo midfielder
  • The Argentine has been heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou this year and his agent recently said that there is a 'very big chance' of that happening.

However, Zanetti insists that the striker is content playing for the Nerazzurri and he does not see him heading through the exit door when the transfer window reopens later in the year.

"Right now we're not talking about the transfer market, the most important thing is health," Zanetti told ESPN. "I see him happy at Inter, he's identifying himself with the club. We believed in him. I see his future at Inter."

Martinez has netted 16 goals and registered four assists in the current season. He has a £102m release clause on his contract but the Nerazzurri are keen on rewarding him with a fresh deal to eliminate the condition.
