Superb Roma romp to victory

Superb Roma romp to victory

13 April 2008 - 15:58

Roma put in a classic away performance today against Udinese in Serie A as they enjoyed a superb 3-1 victory against Udinese to reopen the title race in the Scudetto. Roma are still within touching distance of league leaders Inter Milan.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • In a game which saw Francesco Totti return from injury; a similar type of player - Antonio di Natale - was keen to impress in front of the watching Roberto Donadoni.

Roma were always looking for Totti every time they came forward and the Italian striker nearly scored from a free kick but for a great save from the Udinese goalie.

Taddei missed a great chance a tone end, and Quagliarella had a header cleared off the line by Taddei at the other.

Soon after half time, that man Antonio Di Natale put Udinese in front as he latched on to a Dossena cross - a deserved reward for the better side.

Udinese then sat back and tried to defend their lead; but it was never to work as Vucinic equalised for the Romans, Pizarro chipped in to the striker and he then placed it past Handanovic.

Roma then went 2-1 up when Taddei bagged a great goal; he twisted and turned in the box following De Rossi’s set up and unleashed a powerful left foot shot into the goal.

The third then came to secure the result, as Ludovic Giuly slotted the ball home after taking the ball beautifully.

The Serie A is still very much up for grabs.

Udinese 3-4-3: Handanovic, Zapotocny, Coda, Lukovic, Ferronetti, D’agostino(Pinzi), Inler, Dossena(Floro Flores), Pepe, Quagliarella, Di Natale.
