Nolan urges fans to help Megson

Bolton midfielder Kevin Nolan has urged the Trotters' fans to get behind Gary Megson after the side managed to pick up a 1-0 win against West Ham last weekend in the Premiership. The side are firmly behind Megson, according to the midfielder.

  • “To keep chopping and changing the manager is not the right thing to do. You’ve seen how a lot of teams go into free-fall when that happens,” he said in The Sun.

“We need this club to be stabilised again. Hopefully, the board will see that and give their full backing to Gary Megson.

“I think the manager has had a lot of harsh criticism. He came into a tough job.

“After 10 games we had five points. He did well when he first came in, but that was probably just papering over the cracks. It’s going to be a long-term thing.

“Sam Allardyce had seven years to rebuild this club. When he first came, the fans wanted him out.

“The manager has stood up well. He has the backing of the dressing room.”
