German defender Shkodran Mustafi has reportedly revealed his desire to leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season.

  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Mustafi was a regular under Mikel Arteta during the backend of the previous campaign before he suffered a hamstring injury against Olympiacos.

He made his comeback as a second-half substitute against Leicester City last weekend, but was unable to restrict Jamie Vardy from scoring the winner.

According to Football.London, the centre-back was offered a new contract by the Gunners earlier this summer, but he decided to reject the proposal.

It is added that he is keen on a return to the Serie A and is likely to leave on a free transfer when his Gunners deal expires in June 2021.

The Gunners will be in Europa League action against Dundalk on Thursday night. Mustafi is expected to start alongside Gabriel with David Luiz injured.

Luiz picked up a thigh problem at the start of the second half against the Foxes and he will be assessed before the weekend's Premier League trip to Manchester United.
