Hammers coach Moyes responds to Chelsea interest in Rice

West Ham manager David Moyes is reportedly desperate to keep hold of midfielder Declan Rice, despite Premier League giants Chelsea chasing the England international. Moyes has informed the youngster that he would like the player to stay put this season.

  • Rice has caught the eye with some impressive displays in a so far successful campaign for West Ham, leading to some interest from both Manchester United and Chelsea.

That being said, manager David Moyes has rejected talk of a transfer away for Rice, insisting no bids have been received.

“They're not true, we've had no contact from either of those clubs regarding Declan and we wouldn't want any anyway,” Moyes said.

“He's doing great for us, he's a big leader now, he's taken a lot of the weight off Mark Noble. He's turning out to be a really good player but also a really good boy and good around the club.”

It is understood that Chelsea manager wants to link up Mason Mount alongside his childhood best friend Rice in the middle of the park at Stamford Bridge.
