Chelsea star close to agreeing fresh contract terms

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is reportedly on the verge of finalising a new long-term deal.

  • The Dane has entered the final year of his contract, but he has publicly stated that he would like to stay.

According to The Sun, the centre-back was initially offered a new deal by the Blues with a potential pay-cut.

The proposal was snubbed immediately. The west London giants have since placed a fresh offer on the table.

The 25-year-old is widely expected to accept the new proposal, and a deal could be finalised in the near future.

The defender is set to sign a four-year contract with Thomas Tuchel regarding him as a key part of his plans.

After Christensen, the club will focus on renewals for N'Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Jorginho and Antonio Rudiger.

Rudiger seems unlikely to prolong his stay with the club, having previously stalled on negotiations over a new deal.

He is eyeing around £200,000-a-week knowing that he can sign a pre-contract with an overseas club in January.

Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Juventus could all compete to land his signature next year.
