Thomas Tuchel confirms injury blow ahead of Manchester City clash

24 September 2021 - 20:02

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Mason Mount will be sidelined for the upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester City.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Blues entertain the Cityzens in Saturday's early kick-off. They have the chance to go six points clear of the champions with a victory.

Ahead of the game, Tuchel provided team news where he confirmed that both Christian Pulisic and Mount will be unavailable for selection.

Pulisic has been out with ankle injury since the international break. Meanwhile, Mount picked up a knock against Aston Villa in midweek.

Mount was initially fancied to make the weekend's game, but Tuchel has now confirmed that the fixture will come too soon for him.

The Blues have adequate options in the squad to provide cover. One of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner or Callum Hudson-Odoi could start.

Werner may have the best chance of doing so after finding the back of the net in the midweek League Cup third round tie against Villa.
