Chelsea will reportedly need to pay at least €40m to land the signature of AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Blues were keeping tabs on the 21-year-old earlier this year, but they did not make a formal approach to land his signature.
The west London club are still monitoring his progress, and they have been joined by Manchester United and Juventus in the pursuit.
The Bianconeri are exploring a possible January deal for the Frenchman, and the Blues could be compelled to make a winter bid.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Monaco value Tchouameni at €40m, and they won't sell him unless the valuation is met in full.
The Blues decided to sign Saul Niguez on loan from Atletico Madrid during the summer, but he has hardly made an impact so far.Â
They are well covered in midfield, but there are suggestions that the club are eyeing a young signing, who can make progress with them.
