Dutch youth international defender Melayro Bogarde is a target for Arsenal, with the Gunners reportedly ready to pay 15 million euros to secure the 19-year-old centre-back. Arsenal are looking for reinforcements having sold Calum Chambers to Aston Villa last week.

  • Bogarde has forced his way in to Hoffenheim's first-team, and the German Bundesliga side are desperate to keep hold of the Rotterdam-born 20-year-old defender, who is also comfortable playing on the right side of defence.

His name will be familiar to many Premier League fans, as Bogarde's uncle Winston was a regular for Chelsea between 2000 and 2004.

Several Dutch clubs have been chasing Bogarde's signature for a loan deal in January, but Arsenal's interest has been made concrete as the Gunners are rumoured to have submitted a transfer bid.

Bogarde's contract with Hoffenheim will expire in 2024 and the defender has previously indicated that he is ready to leave the club in search of Premier League football, and, if a deal is completed, Bogarde will compete with impressive defensive duo Ben White and Gabriel for playing time.
