Ten Hag to become Man Utd boss

Man Utd confirm appointment of new permanent manager

21 April 2022 - 16:40

Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their next permanent head coach.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • The Dutchman recently agreed terms over a three-year deal, and it is now official that he will take over from Ralf Rangnick this summer.

Ten Hag is due to work with his own backroom staff over existing coaches at Old Trafford. His assistant from Ajax, Mitchell van der Gaag is set to join.

The 52-year-old has also demanded the services of Steve McClaren, who was United's assistant behind Sir Alex Ferguson two decades ago.

McClaren built a huge reputation at Old Trafford between 1999 and 2001 before pursuing a managerial career which did not hit the anticipated heights.

United have been reluctant to re-appoint McClaren, but The Telegraph claims that they have finally accepted to discuss a contract with him.

Ten Hag has personally requested the 60-year-old's return to the Red Devils due to his successful history and vast experience in English football.
