Chelsea are interested in signing RC Lens defender Jonathan Clauss, according to La Voix du Nord.
The London giants are determined to sign a new centre-back this summer to offset the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
However, they may also pursue a right wing-back option with the speculation that Cesar Azpilicueta could leave the club in the coming weeks.
According to La Voix du Nord, the Blues are keen on landing the services of Clauss, who bagged five goals and 11 assists last season.
The 29-year-old could be available for just €10 million with his contract expiring next summer. Chelsea are set to face competition from Atletico.
Reece James has been the regular right wing-back for the Blues, but he is unlikely to play every game next season with the hectic schedule.
Clauss has made tremendous progress in the backend of his career, and he would be a quality competitor without costing much out of the pocket.
