Chelsea have confirmed that they have mutually parted ways with former Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
The England international spent four-and-a-half years with the west London giants, but was never able to establish himself.
He bagged just 12 goals and 11 assists from 100 games, and he has now been released from his contract that was expiring in June next year.
Barkley was linked with West Ham United and former club Everton earlier this summer, but neither were willing to pay a fee for him.
The duo could now enter the race for his services. West Ham are managed by David Moyes who knows Barkley from his Everton days.
Meanwhile, Everton boss Frank Lampard has also worked with Barkley in the past. He was the Chelsea manager between 2019 and 2021.
Both head coaches could be tempted to bring Barkley to their respective clubs, and it remains to be seen whether a free transfer materialises.
Barkley made just 14 appearances for Chelsea in the previous campaign.
