Takehiro Tomiyasu unsatisfied with current Arsenal role

Tomiyasu determined to regain starting spot at Arsenal

Takehiro Tomiyasu unsatisfied with current Arsenal role

23 September 2022 - 20:24

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has acknowledged that he is unsatisfied with his current role with the Gunners.

  • Chelsea want to sign Alejandro Garnacho for £30m?
  • Chelsea agree deal to sign wonderkid for €40m

  • The Japan international joined the north London giants from Bologna last season, and he was a regular right-back for them when fit.

However, he has struggled to nail down a starting role this term due to the splendid form of Ben White from the right side of the backline.

White regularly partnered Gabriel Magalhaes in central defence last season, but has been switched to right-back to accomodate William Saliba.

As a result, Tomiyasu has been a regular on the bench for the Gunners, and he is now determined to work hard to regain his starting position.

He said: "What is required in this league is quite high and I'm not satisfied."

"When you look at the players selected as starters in the Premier League games, you will understand what is required to be there.

"I will work hard in order to get my position back."

Arsenal have a hectic schedule after the international break. They will be playing as many as 13 games before the World Cup in Qatar.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will obviously rotate his squad around, and Tomiyasu will be aiming for more Premier League minutes.
