Newcastle United could make a shock swoop for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku next summer, according to Voetbal Krant.
The Belgian star was on the radar of Inter Milan and Juventus during last summer's transfer window, but he eventually made the switch to AS Roma on a season-long loan deal.
Lukaku has since impressed with 10 goals in just 16 games for the Giallorossi and there are suggestions that the capital outfit could attempt to sign him permanently.
Chelsea have set an asking price of around £34 million and it is reported that the Magpies could offer stiff competition to Jose Mourinho's side for the experienced ace.
Eddie Howe's side currently have Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak for the centre-forward role, but the hierarchy are eyeing more competition in the form of Lukaku.
It remains to be seen whether the Belgian will be tempted to return to the Premier League after a couple of underwhelming seasons with Chelsea and United previously.
