Chelsea could make a late swoop to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres before the transfer window closes this month.

The Sweden international has had a fantastic campaign with the Portuguese giants and he has scored 20 goals and providing 10 assists.

This has caught the eye of the Blues and reports claim that they could make a late swoop for his signature before the transfer deadline.

Sporting are currently holding out for his €100m release clause, but the Blues are likely to propose to pay a higher fee in instalments.

It will be interesting to see how Sporting react when the proposal is made. Gyokeres has previously said that he would like to stay for the season.

He is likely to leave the final decision on the shoulders of the hierarchy. Chelsea are yet to make a move, but we won't be surprised if they do so.

They have been lagging behind in the striking department this term. A player like Gyokeres would be a clear upgrade to their frontline.
