ONeill wants more for Barry

O'Neill wants more for Barry

13 June 2008 - 00:32

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill believes that the club should be given more money if they are to consider even letting talented midfielder Gareth Barry leave the club.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Villa boss is believed to be chasing nearer to £16 million for Barry.

O'Neill said on the BBC: "Gareth and I had a little chat when he got back from holiday and he has said he would fancy going to Liverpool.

"That's obviously a big setback to us, but the offer from Liverpool is just not acceptable.

"It's very frustrating. We finished sixth last year, he was a major part of that and he has been a splendid player for us for some considerable time."
