14 June 2008 - 21:06

Real Madrid have stepped up their efforts to sign Cristiano Ronaldo into fifth gear, after the club reportedly have made direct contact with Manchester United's owners, the American tycoon family, the Glazer's.

  • Man Utd star preparing farewell video ahead of transfer
  • Chelsea winger suffers head injury vs Nottingham Forest
  • It is understood that Real Madrid are willing to pay a shocking £75 million to land the player who will certainly be named the best player in the world this year.

Scoring 42 goals in the Premiership and helping Man Utd secure Premiership and Champions League glory, has seen Ronaldo apparently ask questions about his own future at United.

Now Real Madrid have spoken to United's owners directly about a £75 million move, and are expected to pay the Portuguese international a whopping £182,000 a week.
