Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Wayne Rooney has been desperate to play in Coventry City's visit to Old Trafford in the Carling Cup this week. The player would normally be rested for the game, but Sir Alex has said that Rooney always wants to play and this is part of his character.
"Wayne Rooney's been in my ear wanting to play," Ferguson told Manchester United Radio.
"He wants to play, he wants to be the captain, he wants to take the penalties, the corners, the free-kicks, the goal-kicks, the lot."
