Harry Redknapp is delighted to have brought Les Ferdinand to the club to help his strikers score more goals. It is understood that the former England international has been brought in to improve Roman Pavlyuchenko and Darren Bent's eye for goal.

  • "Les can work with the strikers," said Redknapp.

"There is loads of British talent out there and we need to get these boys involved because they have great football brains.

"I had a similar arrangement at Portsmouth, when Luther Blissett came in and helped the forwards during the 2003-04 season. Yakubu had been having a difficult time in front of goal, but after Luther came in, he ended up finishing the season by scoring 11 goals in ten matches."
