David James set to make record

The England number one will set a new Premier League appearance record on Saturday when Portsmouth play Manchester City. The 38-year old has played 535 games in top flight football so far.

  • James will surpass Gary Speed's appearance record in Premier League tomorrow in Fratton Park. The veteran English keeper is delighted in achieving the milestone.



    When asked, he commented that it is a great honour and, "It means a lot for me".



    David James has played 17 seasons in the Premier League so far, and he intends to continue. “As things stand, I have another couple of years with Portsmouth and I hope to go on as long as I can."
