Arsenal gunning for Benzema

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made an enquiry to Real Madrid for French striker Karim Benzema. Jose Mourinho is reportedly willing to let Benzema go as he decides to bring Emmanuel Adebayor to the Bernabeu on a permanent basis.

  • Benzema is widely regarded as one of the best young attacking prospects in Europe at the moment, and Wenger is reportedly ready to revert back to a 4-4-2 formation for the 2011/12 with Robin van Persie and Karim Benzema has strike partnership.

The player himself hopes to stay at Real Madrid, but it is understood Jose Mourinho will listen to any offer over 20m GBP for the Frenchman.

Benzema's agent, Karim Djaziri said: "The idea is to keep Benzema at Real Madrid to fight and improve on the level he reached last season.

"I do not know that Madrid want to sell and I'm not negotiating anything with Arsene Wenger."
