Kranjcar closes in on Sunderland move

Niko Kranjcar is close to completing a move from Tottenham to Sunderland for a fee of around 5m GBP. Kranjcar has found opportunities limited at White Hart Lane since the arrival of Rafael van der Vaart and emergence of Gareth Bale.

It is understood that Sunderland will pay around 5.5m GBP to bring the Croatian to the club.

Kranjcar's agent, Adrian Aljai, confirmed that discussions were well under way.

"We are about to close a deal with Sunderland," Adrian Aljai was quoted by the Daily Express.

"I believe that is the best solution for Niko."
