Chelsea trail Romanian defender Stefan Radu
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas instructed his scouts to prepare a dossier on Lazio's impressive full back Stefan Radu. The defender has been valued by his club at around 10 million Euros.
Chelsea have been preparing for the departure of Brazilian defender Alex this January when the transfer window reopens. Villas-Boas is hoping to bring in a defensive replacement once Alex leaves.
Jose Bosingwa - a player who found himself out of favour under former boss Carlo Ancelotti - has been enjoying an extended run in the first team since Villas-Boas arrived at Stamford Bridge from Porto.
However, Chelsea's pursuit of a new defender is no secret, and recently the Blues missed out on Porto midfielder Pereira.
Subsequently, Chelsea have recently trailed Radu, and could make a move as soon as the transfer window reopens.
Radu's agent last week revealed: "If something interests us in the coming months then we will talk it over. Stefan has renewed his contract but in football you can never take anything as certain.
"I have read that big clubs in England, Spain and France are interested but at the moment I have not spoken to anyone about it."
