Preview: Man City vs Newcastle
Man Utd will be watching closely as they sit sandwiched between the two teams taking part in today's crucial game between Man City and Newcastle in the Premier League. City are currently riding high in top spot and with five points ahead of United, whilst Newcastle are this season's most improved team in 3rd, and even boss Alan Pardew remains surprised at how well his side have performed this year.
The Etihad Stadium is host to these two teams who have spent expensively this summer rebuilding their teams for this seasons Premier League campaign. Man City's financials were published this week, and revealed a massive 194.9m GBP loss mainly on transfers, whilst Newcastle were forced to rebuild during the summer bringing in the likes of Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye.
Interestingly, Newcastle currently has the best defence in the Premier League whilst Man City's attack has scored more goals than any other team.
It's been a whole 11 years since Newcastle won at Man City, and on paper Newcastle have a huge challenge to live up to. The international break could mean this game goes either way though, and Edin Dzeko returns from international duty disappointed after Bosnia were dumped out during qualification. Newcastle are on course to break a club record should they remain unbeaten today.
TEAMS
Samir Nasri is missing through injury whilst Sergio Aguero should recover in time from muscle problems.
Chieck Tiote, Sylvain Marveux and Gabriel Obertan are all set to miss out today.
