Newcastle chasing Yanga-Mbiwa

Newcastle are considering a move for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, the Montpellier defender who plays in either right back or centre back. The player would be allowed to quit the Ligue 1 side for around 3.5m GBP.

According to a report from France, Newcastle scouts have been tracking the French under 21 international for several months, and the 22 year old is being lined up as a centre half backup for the Toon.


The defender's current contract with Montpellier expires in 2013, and so Newcastle are hoping to act fast before he agrees a new deal with the French side.
