Liverpool tracking PSV star Dries Mertens

Liverpool have already begun their preparations for a busy transfer window, and have made contact with PSV Eindhoven regarding a move for Belgian international winger Dries Mertens.

The highly rated 24 year old left winger is seen as a perfect long term replacement for Dirk Kuyt, and according to a report emanating from the Netherlands, Anfield scouts have been spotted at PSV watching the youngster in action.


Since arriving from Utrecht last summer, Mertens has scored 18 goals in 26 games including an impressive brace during this week.


The 5 foot 7 winger is very highly rated in Holland though, and his club are expected to command a fee as high as 9.2 million Euros should they decide to sell the player.
