Jose Mourinho could sell Chelsea star Juan Mata

The new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is willing to allow Juan Mata a route out of Stamford Bridge. The Catalans are now favourites to land the Spanish International.

According to Spanish source El Mundo Deportivo , Barcelona are closing in on a move to sign Chelsea’s playmaker Juan Mata. Reports indicate Jose Mourinho thinks Mata would not suit his style of play and is indeed happy enough to allow the player to move.


Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova sees Mata as a possible attacking midfielder who could sit behind the forwards Neymar and Messi.


Mata has been a huge hit at Chelsea and probably the best Spanish midfielder in the Premier league last season. He has had a Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup triumph to his name during his last two seasons at the club adding up 32 goals and whopping 59 assists in his 118 appearances.


Chelsea spent £23m to sign Mata and given that he has three years to run on his contract, the Catalans would have to pay a hefty fee for the talented Spanish star.
